Hardwoods
Current wholesale price plus 20% markup.
Hardwoods includes MDF, plywood and engineered wood products.
Metal work
Metal work such as custom metal legs are sourced out at sub-contractor charges plus 20% for handling.
Consumables
Retail prices for sandpaper, glue, tooling such as blades and endmills, finishes and other material needed to build and finish the project.
Hardware
retail cost for hardware items such as hinges, shelving pins, casters and adjustable table leg feet, knobs, lighting and similar non wood items.
I typically charge time and expense plus 20% for overhead and profit for custom commissions. Since each commission is unique, several discussions including design submittal and approval will take place before an estimate is set.
Ready-made work is priced at market value.
Those prices are available on my online store.
- Material acquisition and handling
- Milling
- Sanding and finishing
- Clean up
- Any other time spent on project related construction tasks
Examples of this include but not limited to
- Graphic work including translation of images to shop designs and computer modeling
- Creating plans based on customer requests and specifications
- Miscellaneous computer time
- These charges include setting up material on the CNC, tool setup, scrap removal and general cleanup.
CNC work creates a huge mess.
- Epoxy work such as flattening epoxy coated tables creates “noodles” and chips that are especially difficult to clean because of static electricity. The debris sticks to all surfaces and takes extra time to clean.
Many projects require uneven run times. For example, a half hour job would be .5 hours or $50.00.
Because machine time is so expensive (running a CNC is not cheap) charging in increments seems to be the fairest method to keep costs down.
Installation
My shop is set up for fabrication, not installation. I do not have dedicated tools for field installs like cabinetry or shelving.
However, I will do my best to fabricate your creation so it is easy to assemble and install by yourself or a third party. Building an easy to install project is part of my design process.
Delivery
I have a large pickup so I can deliver locally (within the tri-cities area) depending on the size of the project.
Delivery charges are negotiated as part of the project estimate.
